Set in the grounds of a stunning manor house in a pretty village close to York, this handsome, Quirky Character cottage makes a lovely romantic retreat for a couple seeking to explore this beautiful area.
The picturesque village of Holtby is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds and makes a lovely base for exploring North Yorkshire. The vibrant and historic city of York (6 miles) is known for its quaint cobbled streets, fascinating museums and historic buildings. Attractions include York Minster, The Shambles, Jorvik and Castle Museum. Outside the city there are miles of beautiful walks and cycle trails to enjoy with stunning scenery and plenty of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding towns and villages including Flaxton and Sutton-on-the-Forest (both 9 miles). Heading north, you can visit Castle Howard (12 miles) and Kirkham Abbey (10 miles) which are in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
On arriving at this delightful reverse-level bolthole, head up to the first floor where you will find the bright, spacious and tastefully furnished open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The light-filled lounge is a cosy space to relax in, complete with Smart TV and plenty of comfortable seating. A Juliet balcony offers charming views out across the gardens of the manor house. There’s also a welcoming and ideally situated dining area, and the stylish bespoke kitchen features a marble worktop and is fully equipped with everything you may need to prepare a lovely romantic meal. Returning to the ground floor you will find the generous bedroom which features oak floorboards and a striking Four-poster bed. There is also an en-suite shower room with a shower, heated floors and WC.
Stepping outside you can relax in the completely private patio area which has garden furniture and is perfect for enjoying a drink in the evening. You can also explore the grounds of the manor house, including a large walled garden and an orchard, with pigs and chickens also on-site.
