Eden Valley Holiday Cottage
Lazonby
Cumbria

Sitting on the edge of the River Eden, this delightful holiday cottage sits in the Eden Valley with plenty of places to explore without jumping in the car. Return to the open fire for atmospheric cosy evenings in.

Wander the many bridleways and tracks that wind around the local area. Saunter to the nearby village of Little Salkeld (5 miles) where you can tread circular routes along the river in search of Lacy’s Cave and Long Meg and Her Daughters. At 7 miles from your door, the market town of Penrith has shops, eateries and a cinema so you can easily spend days and nights keeping yourselves entertained here. Further afield, Ullswater (17 miles) is well worth the journey and you can board an Ullswater Steamer and admire the Aira Force waterfall for a day to remember.

Step inside this Grade II-listed home which dates back to the 18th century and settle in. Sit beneath exposed beams and in front of the roaring open fire in the lounge – the perfect spot for relaxing. Sit on the window seat and admire the views for some peace and quiet before heading into the kitchen/diner. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher. Dine by the feature window which boasts fantastic views. Find the washing machine in the utility room and freshen up in the shower room with WC to save you climbing stairs after adventures. Three bedrooms await tired heads on the first floor, a double bedroom and two twins, one with an ornamental, feature fireplace and one with exposed beams. Spacious and light, the family bathroom has a bath with WC .

The outside space welcomes you to unwind and relax, with access via steps, to the shared natural woodland and the private riverbank. Take a tea or coffee out to the patio which commands fantastic views of the river and surrounding countryside. If the evenings are balmy, serve up your diner outside for an al fresco treat.

Guests have the benefit of being located on a private section of the beautiful River Eden which is accessible from the front door – you might recognise this section of river from the BBC’s ‘Gone Fishing Christmas Special’ (2021) with Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse.
