Llangollen Holiday Cottage
Llangollen (9mls E),
North Wales

One of two cosy holiday cottages set within a large orchard on the Welsh border, near Wrexham.

Close to the pretty village of Overton, this spacious bungalow – which has been divided into two comfortable cottages – is the ideal base for exploring. The village has shops, cafe, a pub and garage, while the vibrant towns of Wrexham and Llangollen are also nearby. Visit Bangor on Dee, which is famed for its racecourse, or take a trip on the horse-drawn canal boat in Llangollen. The National Trust properties Chirk Castle and Erddig are also within easy reach, as is Wales’ highest waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, with its impressive 73 metre cascade. Keen walkers will also be happy to discover the Maelor Way and Berwyn mountains.

Relax and unwind after a busy day exploring in the cottage lounge with its wood burner, where you can snuggle up on the sofa and watch the TV or use the DVD. In the well-equipped kitchen/diner, you’ll find an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, as well as a large dining table should you choose to stay in for your evening meal. Meanwhile in the utility room you’ll find a washing machine. The cottage has three bedrooms: one super-king-size with an en-suite shower and WC, one double, and one king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) with a Jack and Jill bathroom with a shower, bath and WC. There’s also a separate WC.

In the large orchard, which is shared with the adjoining cottage, there’s garden furniture and a BBQ – great for summer evenings. There’s also ample off-road parking at the cottage.
